Conquering Ol Doinyo Lengai: A 2-Day Trek to the Top of the World's Only Natrocarbonatite Lava Volcano

Join a spiritual 2-day hike up Mount Oldoinyo Lengai. Stand atop the 'Mountain of God', an active volcano with exclusive Natrocarbonatite lava, for a sunrise you'll never forget.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Natron (Ol Doinyo Lengai)

Morning meet Driver at your Hotel and drive to Lake Natron for an approximate 5 hour ride through Mto wa Mbu, on arrival check in at the camp for Lunch at 12:30pm and late at 2:30pm to 3:30pm visit the Engare Sero waterfall which is walking distance from the camp. At 4 :45pm we shall drive to the lake Natron area to see Flamingos.

The Lake Natron is one of the major breeding site for the flamingo in the area. After Dinner relax waiting for the mountain climbing which starts around midnight due to the hotter temperatures during day time.

Day 2: Ol Doinyo Lengai – Arusha

Continue your climb in the early hours of the morning intending to reach the summit in time to witness the sunrise as it illuminates the Great Rift Valley below, after reaching the summit you will enjoy breathtaking views of the salt flats of Lake Natron to the north, the Kenyan border in the distance, see snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro and the Great Rift Valley to the East and the stretching Ngorongoro Highlands and Ngorongoro Crater to the South.

With your Guide, you will explore the peak and enjoy a picnic breakfast at the summit of active mount Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano before beginning descending from the mountain. After Hot lunch at the Camp, we will drive back to Arusha where you safari ends upon arrival.
